Barrett Tillman is the author of many books on aviation and military history, including, most recently, Enterprise: The America’s Fightingest Ship (Simon & Schuster 2012), Whirlwind: The Air War Against Japan, 1942–1945 (Simon & Schuster, 2010). Tillman’s other books include What We Need: Extravagance and Shortages in America's Military (Zenith), LeMay (Palgrave Macmillan), part of Gen. Wesley K. Clark's Great Generals series, and Clash of the Carriers: The True Story of the Marianas Turkey Shoot (NAL/Caliber). His fiction has been featured in several Stephen Coontz anthologies. Tillman is the recipient of the Admiral Arthur Radford Award for Naval History and Literature.

   He is presently completing a history of the aircraft carrier USS Enterprise, to be published by Simon & Schuster in February 2012.
