Jason Redman
Jason Redman served on many deployments worldwide as a Navy SEAL, including two combat deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan, before being severely wounded in Iraq in 2007. His memoir, The Trident: The Forging and Reforging of a Navy SEAL Officer, written with John R. Bruning, will be published in November 2013 by William Morrow.
After thirty-seven surgeries, Jason, with his positive attitude, continues to motivate others and raise awareness of the sacrifices of America’s military forces and their families. He is the founder of Wounded Wear, a nonprofit organization that helps warriors Rediscover the Hero Within through clothing, clothing modifications, events, and opportunities, as well as promoting awareness throughout the country of the sacrifices that wounded service members and families of the fallen have made in the name of freedom. He is a popular motivational speaker, spreading his message of life, leadership, inspiration, and shedding light on the sacrifices that enable the Freedoms of our country. A graduate of Old Dominion University, he was recognized in 2009 by his alma mater with their prestigious Alumni Service Award and was a 2010 recipient of the Hope and Courage award.
Advance praise for Jason Redman and ‘The Trident’
“Jay Redman's telling of his own painful, powerful and deeply personal story is honest and compelling. Few of us will ever face the severe challenges that Jay has overcome, but all of us can draw real inspiration from his positive spirit, raw courage and unrelenting determination. This is much more than a recounting of tragic injuries and a difficult road to recovery; it is a from-the-gut tale of a Navy SEAL's quest to be a better, wiser and more humble teammate and family man. I urge you to read it.”
—Adm. Eric Olson, USN (ret.), former commander, U.S. Special Operations Command
“As a SEAL operator, I had the honor of serving with some of the best warriors and leaders in the United States military. Jay Redman’s humble and direct account of his journey growing up in the SEAL Teams, overcoming much personal adversity, and coming to understand what it is to be an effective combat leader and officer, is remarkable. His life is the epitome of the Never Quit spirit that I stand for. I would recommend this book for anyone looking for inspiration to become a better leader or overcome adversity.” —Marcus Luttrell, author of Lone Survivor and Service: A Navy SEAL at War
